A game that pitted my Hellenistic Greek army against the Ross' rampaging Galatians. Paul was siding with Ross and the ever insightful Chris gave me the benefit of his sage advice and quick wit.
A really brutal game that saw the Galatians tear across the table to hit the Greeks. There was a veritable horde!
The Galatian line hits the Greeks- the woods were held by thureophoroi- who held their own in the wood. |
Hoplites holding on but taking casualties. |
Galatian right flank ( lighter coloured bases) - the chariots charging out in front. |
Greek right flank held by Chris- The Galatians under Ross hitting hard. |
Greeks to the left, Galatians to the right. |
Close up......ugly looking lot. |
Galatian cavalry on the left flank closing in |
Greek cavalry on the Greek right...nervously waiting. |
Good pic of the two armies. Greeks in a smaller frontage- the Galatians on a wide front...coming in hard. |
The chariots, about to ride down the Greek psiloi |
The Galatian horde hit the Greek line...which wobbled....nearly buckled....but just held on. The fighting was fierce everywhere...and the Greeks held on by the narrowest of margins to take the laurels for the day.
Superb looking game

DeleteA wonderful looking game and collection of figures but I am surprised the Greeks won, looking at the third to last image of the table - they seemed completely outnumbered!
ReplyDeleteYes Keith- they were...but it was quality vs quantity....and just for today, quality won.
DeleteVery nice John and Ross.
