ZOGO: The Crisis depends and expands. ( PART 7).

DATELINE:  SITREP ZOGO.
More news from the central African nation of Zogo.

Recent developments:
The small African nation has over recent months descended into chaos, violence and bloodshed. The arrival of French and US troops on Zogon soil has set off a series of chain reactions that were totally unforeseen by the relevant parties. In response to the arrival of these forces into the province of Kelwazi (see part 6) the President for Life, T’Mbolo M’Shombou, dispatched the bulk of his dreaded Presidential Guard and the key components of his Zogon African Rifles (ZAR) to contain the French and US forces. These forces, still in place due to strenuous requests from multinational mining companies to protect their staff and assets showed a vote of no confidence in the President by the international (read – western) community.

The serious deterioration of the situation in the southern provinces in Zogo is of grave concern to the UN Security Council. Despite his brutal subjugation of the rebellion, which is on its last legs, bloody violence has plagued the southern provinces as tribes hostile to M'shombe's ruling tribe, and his regime, have inflicted bloody retribution on the minority Baako tribe who have responded with violence of their own. Rebel groups, none associated with the PLF (Patanga Liberation Front) have sprung up and are causing mayhem.

Situation:
The ongoing violence in the south of the country has begun to destabilise the existing social structure and harmony of the region. Despite recent victories, the President of the troubled African nation has been unable to subdue rebel groups that have begun to break away from Meeko Momfasa’s Patangan Liberation Front (PLF).  In fact, several groups have now claimed that they are the legitimate Liberation movement after the death of Beeko Momfasa. In addition to this, Mshombou’s violent retribution against some of his own people is leading to a greater cycle of violence in the more remote section of the country in the south. The absence of his Zogo Africa Rifles and the consolidation of his Presidential Guard on campaign with the President, has meant that resource rich sections of the country have been without authority and civil order. Brutal violence is increasing.

Of concern to the West is the recent arrival of PLA (People’s Liberation Army) advisers from China. Besides these ‘advisers’, large amounts of military hardware are landing in the country and being deployed with the President’s dreaded Presidential Guard.

Recent reports from the diamond and uranium rich region of southern Patanga indicate that European mining specialists and their families are being rounded up by ruthless gun toting rebels in the town of Kelwazi. The lives of nearly 1500 French, US, British and Belgian nationals are now at stake.

US RANGERS in training ( From No Duff Gamer Blog) The expertise and combat experience that the Rangers have from service in Afghanistan and Iraq will be of enormous value in fighting the PLF insurgents. Commentators consider that the experienced forces of the Rapid Reaction Force will deal quickly and effectively with their opponents

SENSATION AT THE UN : Assassination attempt of President T’Mbolo M’Shombou MODERN AFRICA PART 4

A FORCE ON FORCE GAME.- A VERY LONG REPORT

UN REPORT
A sensational report was tabled in the United Nations this afternoon.  Members of private military company Bilgewater Inc were involved in an attempted coup in Zogo in the last 24 hours with an unprecedented attack on President for Life T’Mbolo M’Shombou. Reports from Zogo state media allege that hundreds of white mercenaries were killed and that the President’s armoured Mercedes Benz suffered a paint scratch for which the President has vowed revenge to cover the insurance costs.

MODERN AFRICA ( PART 3 )SENSATION AT THE UN: T’Mbolo M’shombou wins a double victory.

A recent emergency gathering of the UN Security Council has expressed concern over the recent escalating violence in the small central African nation of Zogo. News reports from creditable sources and Zogo state media have reported a double success for the forces loyal to His Imperial Majesty, Royal Highness, The Right Honorable , His Eminence, General President T’Mbolo M’shombou, father to his people and Messiah of the Nation of Zogo. The President, known for his willingness to drown dissenters in a golden bathtub, was in fine form at a recent 29 hour press conference, where only one question was asked; by a reporter from the New York Times. The reporter was then invited to view the presidential golden bath. And never returned. The rest of the conference was a speech by the Great Leader.

Modern Africa- Trouble on the Zogo (PART 2)

The President was in his Palace when the news came.

He was not happy. His Imperial Majesty, Royal Highness, The Right Honourable, His Eminence, General President  T'Mbolo M'shombou was a father to his people. His loved them all. Some more than others. It was a measure of their ingratitude that again, the trouble making Baako tribesmen of the south were causing trouble.
Did they not have work? Working 14 hour days in the Uranium Mines? Digging underground for diamond? Did they not have food? They were given a coconut and rice each day? His advisers had warned him that the Baako were trouble. Their spokesman, Beeko Mumfasa was stirring up dissent.
Well, his uncle, the Great and Wondrous Aboiye had been forced to lop off a few heads. It was time to do so again.
So confident was the General President of Victory, that he left his Presidential Palace Grenadier Life Guards in the Capital, M'shombou City.  He went south with some of his beloved Zogo African Rifles.

Modern Africa- A small campaign (PART1)

Spyros once posed the notion of a game in Modern Africa with our forces.  We'd played Rhodesian Bush war scenarios and fighting in Mali, but he wanted a more involved game. So, after a few sources of inspiration (Force on Force, a few movies like Tears of the Sun and the Wild Geese,  the AK-47 Republic rules as well as countless other stuff!) I came up with a game that was a small campaign using amendments for Modern Bolt Action.

Commander -In Chief, Field Marshal General, Commodore Admiral and President of Zogo for Life:
