Rebasing- World War I figures

I had been looking at these for quite a while.

They are over 30 years old all, Wargames Foundry, and at the time I painted them I was never happy with the fact that I just took some dirt and sprinkled them over PVA on the base.

So I decided to at least repaint the bases and highlight......

There are about 300 all up- so I got started.........

Repainted with an earth brown.

Original 'dirt'.

Base still wet on the battalion command stand!

The new colour- the photos don't really show it...but it is an improvement! Needs highlighting.

Bases drying

Getting there- going back in their box file!

and now the Germans!!!......

There is a lot of them!

  1. There are a lot of them! Singled based? Yikes! That is a lot of figures to move.

    1. Yes Jon, when they are all out on the table....there is a lot to move....and 15 minutes into the upgrading the bases, I was beginning to think this was a mistake!

  2. That was a big push. I have to say that the original looked good as well, but photos can be deceiving.

    1. Yes - the BIG push! The originals basing was just dirt from the garden- and is was always 'gritty'. The paint over at least stops that.

  4. Not as bad as I thought when I read the title...at least you are not physically taking figures off an existing base and putting them onto a different one!
I too thought the original looked fine, particularly foe WW1 and churned up, bombed out tench warfare etc, but the upgrade looks good too.

    1. Thanks Keith- the thought of changing bases was in the 'too hard' basket. A nice new paint job!
