The ongoing saga between these two historical opponents saw another chapter added...and an Elamite victory!!

Remembering the lessons from my last game- I weighted my left and withheld my right. |

My right- here the Elamites were going to face the full weight of the Assyrian Chariots/ |

...the Assyrian Chariots...and my light cavalry sweeping wide to try to slow them down. |

The Assyrian battle line. |

This shows the deployment....and my archers...lots of them sitting back on the hills. On the far side- my good chariots and most of my light cavalry. |

My light cavalry out in front- skirmishing with the Assyrian cavalry |
![]() |
My light causing problems...and my heavy chariots as back up. |

My left flank- sweeping the Assyrians away and getting behind the main line. |

The white line is my sweeping flank manoeuvre. The orange lines show the Assyrian advance.... |
In the end an Elamite victory....Assyria 2, Elam 2...and 1 draw!!
Excellent, John! I always really enjoy seeing your beautiful Biblicals out on the table. I am a little surprised that the Elamites managed two victories out of four against the Assyrians. Respect!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jon, I am amazed too- but the knack is to keep shooting!! Once those Assyrians get very close...there are a lot of dead Elamites.
DeleteEnjoyed your battle report, John. Fabulous looking armies.
ReplyDeleteThanks Richard!
DeleteMarvellous looking game and figures. What rules do you use?
ReplyDeleteThanks you! We are using a homegrown set that we have been playing for quite a while. An amalgam of various sets.
DeleteAnother excellent looking game and good to see the results are finely balanced at this stage!
ReplyDeleteThanks Keith- yes The Elamites seem to be holding their own- but for how long? Who knows!
